🎉Congratulations to Our Future U.S. Army Soldiers!

On October 9, 2026, two Lake Placid High School students took an exciting step toward their futures by enlisting in the United States Army! 💚🐉

🇺🇸Marissa McSwain enlisted in the U.S. Army Active Duty component for six years and will train to become an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician. She is expected to leave for basic training in August 2027.

William “Billy” Meddings enlisted in the U.S. Army Active Duty component and is currently pursuing an opportunity to serve in the U.S. Army Band through the audition process. His expected ship date is July 2027.

We are incredibly proud of Marissa and Billy for their commitment to serving our country and pursuing their goals. Their dedication and willingness to serve inspire us and show what it means to be a Green Dragon!

MAP GROWTH ASSESSMENT 2 MAP Growth is a computer-adaptive interim assessment used to measure student achievement and growth. It helps teachers identify what students know, find areas where additional support may be needed, and make instructional decisions throughout the school year. Testing Schedule: ELA 9th Grade: Nov. 4-6 ELA 10th Grade: Nov. 4-6 Algebra: Nov. 9-10 Geometry: Nov. 16-20 FAST PM2 Florida FAST Progress Monitoring is part of Florida's three-times-per-year progress monitoring system. These assessments measure student progress and guide instruction to support learning throughout the year.
