Congratulations to seniors Jessenia Ganaban and Isabella Pattie, our 2026 recipients of the John Philip Sousa Award for Band! The annual tradition of awarding the John Philip Sousa Award at Lake Placid High School was reintroduced last year in 2025.

Both Jessenia and Isabella have distinguished themselves by going above and beyond in our Band program. Not only have they both been outstanding members of the Dragonettes Color guard for the past 4 years, but they also both learned and quickly excelled at playing an instrument in the Concert Band over the past year. Their musical contribution to the Concert Band this past year was outstanding and greatly appreciated!

Introduced in 1955 to honor the top student (or students in the case of a tie) in a high school band, the John Philip Sousa Band Award® recognizes superior musicianship and outstanding dedication. It was created with the approval of Helen Sousa Albert and Priscilla Sousa, daughters of the famous American composer and bandmaster.

🎉 Congratulations to the 8 LPHS students who earned Industry Certification in Entrepreneurship and Small Business today at Lake Placid High School!

These students went above and beyond by taking on this rigorous certification exam after already earning their WordPress industry certification earlier this year. Their dedication, perseverance, and willingness to challenge themselves demonstrate the hard work and determination that make LPHS students stand out.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs provide students with valuable real-world skills, hands-on learning experiences, and opportunities to earn industry-recognized certifications that prepare them for both college and careers. By earning certifications while still in high school, students build confidence, strengthen resumes, and gain a competitive edge for future success.

We are proud of these students for continuing to push themselves to achieve more. Great job, Green Dragons! 🐉💚
