The LPHS Dragonettes are dancers, performers, and actors/actresses. We support our school with honor and pride. The band creates the music; we interpret the emotion of that music for the crowd through our dance movements, our face dramatization, and the use of auxiliary equipment (ex: flags, rifles, sabers, and other various props). Being a part of Dragonettes isn't just being a team, it's a family. No matter what experience you have, ANYTHING can be learned as long as you try your best and keep pushing.
We require a 3.0 GPA to be involved with Colorguard. School is ALWAYS a #1 priority! We also require that you maintain good behavior at practices, performances, and during school. You are representing your school and you must respect your teachers and administrators while doing so!
Practices are typically every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-5:30. The word "can't" is banned from colorguard. You can do anything, as long as you give 100% and keep trying.
For colorguard you will need:
- fingerless solid black gloves (cushioned)
- solid black jazz sneakers
- make up for performances
- hair ties, hair spray, and LOTS of bobby pins!
Try Out information:
We typically hold try-outs before the end of the school year for new freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors that would like to be part of the team. In try-outs you learn the basics of marching, dance, and flag fundamentals. If you move or transfer to LPHS after try-outs have been held, please see Coach Lisa if you're interested in being part of the team!
2020 Will be my 2nd year as the LPHS Colorguard Coach. I graduated from LPHS many years ago, and was captain of the colorguard for 2 years. I have a strong dance, acting, and auxiliary background. I believe anyone can be a part of this team, as long as you have the motivation to give your best all the time, and you leave drama outside of colorguard. LPHS Colorguard is home for me and I'm so excited to bring new choreography and performing elements to this team!
